ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

Manhattan By Sail is committed to making our services available to everyone, including those with disabilities.

Website Accessibility:

We actively work to make sure our website is compliant with the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and are actively engaged in improving our content and presentation of it. On an ongoing basis, we will have periodic website accessibility audits, as well as end-user accessibility testing and evaluation of our website, conducted in order to ensure conformance with WCAG 2.1.

Vessel Accessibility:

We strongly believe sailing should be accessible to all, regardless of mobility challenges.

• The Clipper City Tall Ship, although built prior to the A.D.A., is wheelchair accessible to 80% of the public deck space.  Boarding the vessel usually requires an assist from one of our friendly crew as wakes from ferry boats and tidal change can create challenging conditions. Clipper City has a large main deck with restrooms on the same level. Bathrooms on the Clipper City cannot be entered whilst in a wheelchair, but you may transfer from chair to bathroom as we have grab bars inside. Please reach out to us so we can clarify and make arrangements to ensure the most comfortable and dignified experience aboard our vessels. We apologize but are unable to accommodate larger electric scooters and wheelchairs.
• Sadly, the Shearwater Schooner built in 1929 is not wheelchair friendly/accessible. That said, if you have “the will” to join us, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve, and will do everything in our power to figure out “the way” to allow you to sail on our ships in a manner that respects your needs. Bear in mind, the restroom is located below deck, down a spiral staircase.

PUBLIC SAILS

New Add On Option

We do not offer refunds unless you purchase the option for “Sail Cancellation Protection” (SCP). This add-on allows the option to cancel your reservation and transfer your tickets to a Future Sailing Credit (FSC), reschedule or receive a refund. Cancellations must be submitted via email to reservations@manhattanbysail.com (no texts or calls) no later than 2 hours prior to your departure time. 75% of funds, minus the cancellation protection taxes and booking fees, will be transferable or refundable. Once the 2-hour window has expired, booking is subject to MBS cancellation / rescheduling policy.

Client Reschedules & Cancellations

Please be aware that all bookings are final; REFUNDS ARE NOT OFFERED, unless the aforementioned Sail Cancellation Protection is secured.

If you wish to cancel or reschedule your sail, the following policy applies:

• Cancellations 7+ days prior to departure date, may message at +1-212-619-6900  OR email reservations@manhattanbysail.com to cancel booking in exchange for a FSC (valid in perpetuity), or to reschedule, at no additional charge.
• 72+ hours prior to departure time, reschedules will be charged a per ticket fee (fee schedule below).
• Reschedules or cancellations within 72 hours of departure time will result in forfeiture of ticket and all paid value associated with reservation.
• Bookings made within 72 hours cannot be rescheduled and are non-refundable if SCP is not secured at time of booking.
• MBS reserves the right to release reserved space 10 minutes prior to departure if customer has not yet checked in at boarding location/ service desk.

Cancellation Due to Weather

Sailing is a (mostly) all-weather activity, and Manhattan by Sail’s boats will leave the dock rain or shine. Summer thundershowers – and those pesky storm emojis – are part of life in New York and you’ll soon see that braving the elements & trusting our mariners to make the safety decision is all part of the fun! Ponchos are available as needed. That said, if the captain deems weather conditions (or forecast!) unsafe, you will be notified via email or text  (or both) up to 2 hours prior to departure. If you are a fair-weather sailor, no worries!, just be sure to give the above Reservation / Cancellation Policy a read.

Other Cancellations

In the event that Manhattan by Sail cancels a sail due to non-weather-related issues, customers will be allowed to reschedule their reservation (at no extra charge, and subject to availability), receive a Future Sail Credit (no expiration date), or transfer your reservation to a friend or family member to use in your place. MBS reserves the right to cancel public events if the vessel is contracted for Private Event.

What do I get with the pass?

Pass holders are entitled to a free DAY or CITY LIGHTS sail on the Clipper City or a discounted sail on any other regularly scheduled departure.

How does the pass work?

DUE TO LIMITED CAPACITY (similar to theater or sporting event tickets), your Pass booking guarantees your space over other potential passengers. Pass holders MUST CHECK IN at least 15 minutes prior to confirmed departure time WITH A VALID PASS. Manhattan By Sail (”MBS”), WILL NOT RECEIVE PAYMENT from the pass company if you do not present a valid pass at the time of departure.

Why do you need my Credit Card information?

MBS will place a hold on your card (similar to a hotel or rental car reservation) for the LISTED RETAIL PRICE. This held amount will be charged IF — FOR ANY REASON — you do not show up with a VALID PASS at the date and time of departure that is specified in your confirmation email from MBS. IF your card is INVALID or is REJECTED when MBS attempts to place the manual hold on the card provided by you, MBS will cancel your booking and notify you with a cancellation email. No further communication will be forthcoming from MBS.

What if my plans change after I place my booking?

Bookings with a pass CANNOT BE CANCELLED. They can be rescheduled free of charge up to one week prior to departure date. They can be rescheduled with a fee up to 72 hours prior to your departure time. Once within the 72 hour window, no changes can be made to your booking. Please understand that IF you do not SHOW UP or your PASS is INVALID at the time of departure, MBS will not receive payment from the pass company and the card you provided will be charged the FULL, non-discounted, RETAIL PRICE.

What if I do not agree with this policy?

Please DO NOT book if this is not acceptable to you. If you still decide to risk being charged, we welcome you to reserve in advance and are excited to deliver you an awesome experience! 🤗
